Your everyday makeup look seems very natural. What do you use on a daily basis?
Yes, I like to keep my makeup simple and light. I use some liquid foundation as well as powder for a more even skin tone. Eyeliner and mascara are key essentials, and some blush. I don't usually wear eyeshadow or lipstick, I use tinted lip balm instead.
What is your beauty philosophy like?
Beauty starts with good health, ample sleep and makeup-wise, less is more.
Do you get glammed up for events? If so, what’s your favorite makeup look?
For events, I usually put on a bit more eyeliner and some lipstick for a pop of color. I love the smokey eye look, but i’m not very good with eyeshadow so i prefer to keep it simple. Having a professional do your makeup makes a world of difference. If only I could have one on call all the time!
You have really clear and amazing skin. What’s your skincare regimen like?
Thank you! I actually have sensitive skin, but I have found products that are suitable for my skin type. I cleanse my face with Neutrogena Deep Clean foaming cleanser and I am a huge fan of Laneige skincare products. I use the full Perfect Renew line, starting with the Skin Refiner, the Regenerator, the Emusion, the Cream (Moisturizer) and last but not least the Perfect Renew Eye Cream. I make sure to drink lots of water and get enough sleep too as my skin gets dry and develops sensitive spots quite quickly if I don’t. And I never ever go to sleep with my makeup on, no matter how tired I am!
Do you ever wear makeup when you’re racing? If so, what products do you use?
I wear at least a little makeup when I leave the house, not particularly to go racing. I must have my eyeliner on - I cannot face the world without it!
What’s the worst beauty advice you have ever received?
The more expensive the product, the "better" it is. That is not true. I have tried expensive brands that made my skin sting and break out. It really depends on whether your skin agrees with what you put on it, and being aware of any allergies or sensitivities to certain ingredients you may have.
Any beauty regrets (stories or something beauty/skincare-related that was said that you didn’t abide by)?
Eye cream and being extra gentle with your skin around your eyes! I wasn't as diligent and consistent with eye cream when i was younger. The skin around the eyes are much thinner and the first to show signs of aging. I'm also not always patient with removing makeup gently especially around the eyes too, which doesn't help!
Please tell us what is in your beauty bag please describe what products you use and what you like to use them for).
For my face I use a small pump of L'oreal True Match Liquid Foundation and apply it to my forehead, cheeks, chin and nose. Then i set it with some L'oreal True Match Powder Foundation. For my eyebrows I use Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Eyebrow Mascara as its really quick and easy to use. Next comes eyeliner. I swear by Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner. It glides on really well, has great staying power and black is truly black. My Lancome Artliner is the most important piece in my makeup bag.The foam tip is perfect for precise shaping of my winged eyeliner and i'm able to get the edges sharp, unlike using a brush. I also use Maybelline's Hypercurl Volum Express Waterproof Mascara on my eyelashes , some Revlon Powder Blush on my cheeks and I cannot go anywhere without my Nivea Fruity Shine tinted lip balm
What do you do to keep yourself looking good in a guy-dominated profession like racing?
Racing is like any other sport. It takes time, patience and a lot of practice. Staying healthy certainly goes a long way - especially when you need to complete a nine-hour race! I take good care of myself in general. I don't think it matters what profession one is in. I think it is important to stay fit and healthy by exercising and eating well.
